Fine food, good conversation
There is plenty of good food in Malaysia, from snails to Durian, loved by both Alice and Alistair in spite of the strong smell! I don’t dislike te smell but I find the fruit itself rather bland.
No time for talk, just eat fast!
Durian, who can beat it?
Cool down in the pool
In 1998 Alice plucked up courage to have a short haircut, which was rewarded by extra Durian; if she could get it away from Alistair.
Alistair made great friends with neighbour kids, who seemed to find his small pool a fine place to chill out.
Easier than a car!
We also joined the yacht club at Port Dickson, about 45 minutes from us in Nilai then (there is now a new expressway). Alice can be seen here with sunglasses before a run out into the swell, not unsurprisingly she did not have them after her speed trial!
Repeat, and repeat, and repeat
Alistair had little fear of water, and was exhausting in his demands to climb out and jump back on to Daddy!
Most men are at the bar
Relaxing after work
Alice soon made friends and Alistair, even at his young age, soon learnt to run to the fridge whenever a visitor came. He would hurry back with a cold coke for ladies or a cold beer for men. One must remember that most Filipinas drink little or no alcohol, so he got a surprise when western ladies (like Mariana in the right hand photo) came by.
