Malaysia is a lovely place to live but one must be just a little wary of some of the wildlife, which have a more frightening aspect than I am really fond of. When I lived in Nigeria I was mostly well in the north and although snakes were a concern I had learnt to watch the ground. Snakes in trees came as a nasty surprise, you need revolving eyes to watch everywhere until you realise that they mostly want to avoid you.
The newspaper clipping above took my eye and reminded me that pythons do turn up all over the place and there is some need to be sensible, although to be honest we only had snakes in the house when the cats brought in some baby cobras they had killed. It still made me a bit uneasy since there was obviously an unhappy cobra mother somewhere close, but we never saw her.
I am quite sure from my known cowardice that you realise that this picture taken on Penang Hill is actually a fake; although I think you can see I was still not so happy about it!
