Turning from fauna to flora there is a vast amount of available fruit (and vegetables) of which many are not recognisable initially to a westerner. Above we have the famous durian and at exactly the same spot later Alice is buying pomelo. a wonderful fruit that I eventually learnt, from Alice, was even more tasty with salt.
Above we have the instantly recognisable fruit (or nut) and Alice, and a friend, in our garden in Petaling Jaya checking on the condition of our jackfruit.

Of course we all recognise rubber immediately, don’t we? It really does seem rather different “in the wild” as opposed to in tyres!
