Ash Bear was very keen to help with the packing, just as soon as he arrived at Alistair’s house.

Ash Bear was the class mascot and was often traveling and showing his visits to the class so that when, one day, Alice and Alistair decided that a short trip within Peninsular Malaysia would be a pleasant change naturally the school was asked if Ash Bear could join the trip. Soon after permission came from the school and planning began. A drive north from Kajang through Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh to Penang was soon planned.
Alistair and Ash Bear prepared for bed early so that an equally early start could be made on the following day, because it would take almost four hours from Kajang to Georgetown on Penang Island. Ash Bear was confused that he would go to an island but still be in Malaysia; and even more confused when he found that some people referred to Georgetown itself as Penang. So he was certainly ready for a pleasant sleep.
