The colourful Jeepney often plies a fixed route, identified by numbers or letters in the windscreen, within cities at a low cost making them a major good transport solution once you know what routes you need.
Happy riding for short distances
Ready for hire
Another famous form of Philippine transport is the tricycle, both motorbike and bicycle powered. These are of course more often used for shorter distances but can be seen merrily bowling along the country roads.
A real numb bum!
Fun juxtaposition
I am most impressed by the rider on the left above, the picture is not clear but I could see that he was riding while sitting on barbed wire. And I thought Jeepneys were uncomfortable! I also spotted the delightful van above right, even the blowup is not all that clear so I will just say I am pleased that one cannot hire sanitary napkins.
We’re heading for the . . .
. . . cheap and cheerful hotel
In fact the only unusual form of transport not often spotted on the streets and roads of the Phils are the unicycles above, if they had been seen then no doubt the girls would have been rushing to the hotel, above right, advertised most charmingly as being “Clean, Class and Comfortable” although you will need to inspect the sign closely to see that properly due to the small size of the photo even in the rollover.
