Well worth the toll to be paid 
At times it looks beautiful
 
 
 
The famous bridge is the first point of entry from the mainland and is a more interesting route than merely landing at the rather boring airport at the south end of Penang Island. Although if you dislike planes you can get another scare soon after landing since the airport is quite close to the Snake Temple.
It just disappears upwards!
Jungle is right up to the track
A must is the ride up the funicular railway to to top of Penang Hill, changing trains halfway. Although it is possible to walk up I do not recommend it. The ride is pleasant with the jungle inches away from one’s nose alternating with occasional vistas. 
It’s quite steep!

I am not dreadfully impressed with the top of the hill, but I do like the ride.
